Thank you to all the hundreds of local residents who responded to our leaflet and who took the time to fill in the H&F survey. Submissions to the survey closed on 2 February.
We now await for the Council to make their decision
We strongly urge the Council to make the traffic scheme permanent.
The East and West schemes are not a done deal.
Now is the time for the silent majority to speak up.

As residents of South Fulham SW6, we welcome the Council’s commitment to the Clean Air Neighbourhood scheme as as part of the initiative to reduce traffic, congestion and pollution in our neighbourhood.
Highway engineers say these figures show a total daily reduction of between 7,000 and 8,000 cars in streets to the west of Wandsworth Bridge Road – on top of the existing reduction of 8,000 cars a day to the east of the road.
The data shows that there has been little or no displacement of traffic from side streets to the main roads and that the trial benefits the wider area, with fewer cars and, therefore, less car pollution.
This is a popular perception but the evidence says it doesn’t happen. Following the trial to the east of Wandsworth Bridge Road, traffic fell by 12% on the main road because satnavs started routing drivers other ways (eg around the M25 for longer trips or over Vauxhall Bridge for central London).
Of course, there will be some initial disruption on Wandsworth Bridge Road as with any new traffic project. But once the trial has settled in, and alongside the traffic calming measures we are introducing on Wandsworth Bridge Road itself, there is an expectation of a further fall in vehicles using the main road as well as the side streets.
It’s very different. LTNs use physical barriers to block roads off for all drivers, including residents. The Clean Air Neighbourhood scheme pioneers the use of smart tech number plate recognition cameras which allow residents to drive wherever they want. Also, although visitors can reach every single street and home without going through a camera, residents can choose to allow visitors through the cameras via RingGo or the hotline. Lots of other councils have been in contact with our engineers and are now looking at doing similar trials precisely because this is a smart tech approach that doesn’t close off roads. Instead, it gives priority to residents and their visitors.
Taxis can reach every single street and home without going through cameras. They just need to enter and leave the area via Wandsworth Bridge Road, or enter and leave via New Kings Road. There is no material difference in time or length on these routes and we expect ride-hailing firms like Uber and Bolt to update their satnav systems accordingly. Black cabs are exempt, as are local taxi firms who have registered with the council, supporting local business.
Experience from the eastern Clean Air Neighbourhood trial shows that delivery companies and couriers quickly adjust their routes and adapt without a problem. They will be able to reach every single street and home without going through cameras. They just need to enter and leave the area via Wandsworth Bridge Road, or enter and leave via New Kings Road. If for any reason visitors do drive through the cameras, you can book them free access through the cameras up to midnight on the day they visit, even after they’ve left you.
That’s not true. They can reach every single street and home without going through cameras, They just need to enter and leave the area via Wandsworth Bridge Road, or enter and leave via New Kings Road. The cameras will only affect drivers who try to cut through between Wandsworth Bridge Road and New Kings Road.
There is a special hotline 020 8753 3849 for residents to book in their visitors or ask questions. Residents can also have a family member or carer book visitors on their behalf.
